Human Trafficking: Financial Institution Awareness and Red Flag Identifiers for Front-Line and Risk Areas
December 20, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EST$249.00
According to the Department of Health and Human Services, it is estimated that 14,500 to 17,500 people, primarily women and children, are trafficked to the U.S. annually. As this is a growing problem and significant emerging risk, it is also becoming a regulatory expectation for BSA programs to include training for all applicable areas on red flags that would indicate activities and patterns indicative of human trafficking. This session is designed to bring awareness to financial institution staff including front line staff, BSA (Bank Secrecy Act), risk management, fraud prevention and investigations, and senior management on this growing crime and to understand the financial institution’s obligation to investigate and file suspicious activity reports. Hear from Homeland Security discuss how financial institutions should implement procedures and educate staff on the identification, reporting and ongoing risk management strategy for assisting in the prevention of this horrific crime.
