Same Day ACH is making payments faster, debits start September of 2017 – there is confusion out there on how this truly affects not only the billing game (from the Originator’s standpoint) but also on the Receiver’s side, with debits possibly affecting their accounts on the Same day they authorize the Entry. For the Originator, with debits having Same Day settlement, this means faster collection! However, if this is not relayed to the customer when the authorization is secured – this could result in Entries being returned by the customer. Also, as the RDFI – have you communicated how Same Day debits can affect the consumer account and potentially cause a NSF situation at the end of a business day (after 4 pm ET).
Let’s clear up confusion and make all parties to ACH transactions aware of how their accounts WILL be affected! For the Originator, have they changed their authorization language? As a value-add to this session, suggested changes to authorization language and a “statement stuffer” for account holders making them aware of these potential changes.
