What You'll Learn
ACH authorizations are the foundation of compliant ACH activity, yet they remain a leading cause of disputes, unauthorized returns, and compliance risk. In this course, the Payments Professor explains what ACH originators must know to properly obtain, manage, and retain authorizations under the Nacha Rules. This webinar focuses on the practical responsibilities of originators, including how authorizations must be structured, documented, and maintained across different transaction types. Participants will learn key differences between consumer and corporate authorizations, one time versus recurring entries, and how authorization requirements vary for SEC codes such as WEB, TEL, PPD, CCD, and ARC.
The webinar also highlights common authorization mistakes that lead to elevated return rates and rule violations. Attendees will gain clarity on authorization retention requirements, how to respond to disputes, and what documentation must be provided when a Receiving Depository Financial Institution requests proof of authorization.
